The three things keeping retirees up at night

You’re not alone. And every one of these has an answer.

Most retirees lose sleep over the same three things. The good news: every one of them has a solution that doesn't require gambling with the money you spent your life earning.

1

“What if I outlive my money?”

It’s the #1 fear in retirement, and it makes sense. Social Security covers maybe a third of what most couples actually spend. Watching a 401(k) tick down every month feels like a candle burning at both ends. And nobody tells you when it goes out.

Build a paycheck you can’t outlive, for you and for your spouse after you’re gone.
2

“What if the market crashes the year I retire?”

Ask anyone who retired in 2008. A 30% drop in your first year of retirement can cut a decade off how long your savings last, even if the market fully recovers. The math is brutal, and most people never see it coming.

Protect 100% of your principal from market loss while still capturing a share of the gains.
3

“What if I leave my family a mess?”

You worked 40 years to build something. The last thing you want is your spouse on the phone with the IRS, your kids fighting over probate, or half of it going to taxes you could have avoided with one decision.

Pass it on tax-advantaged, probate-free, and exactly the way you want. No lawyers needed at 2 a.m.

Meet Greg

I treat your retirement the way I’d want my mom’s treated.

In the fall of 2011, I sat at a kitchen table in Portage with a couple in their mid-60s. He’d been a tool-and-die maker for 38 years. She’d raised three kids and managed every dollar. They’d paid off the house, saved $340,000, done everything right. And they were still scared to sleep at night. Nobody had ever shown them how to turn that pile of savings into a paycheck that wouldn’t run out.

I drove home that night and decided what I was going to do for the rest of my career.

Fifteen years later, Piorkowski Insurance Agency has helped over 1,500 Michigan families do the one thing the big firms rarely get to: build a retirement that pays them every month, protects what they’ve built, and leaves something for the people they love. I’m independent. I shop every A-rated carrier. I pick up my own phone. And I’ll never put you in something I wouldn’t put my own mother in.

“My job isn’t to beat the market. My job is to make sure the market never decides whether you sleep.”

Honest Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a fiduciary?
Honest answer: I’m a licensed insurance producer, which is a different legal category than a fiduciary registered investment advisor. What that means for you: I’m legally required to recommend products that suit your situation, and I’m independent, with no quota at any carrier, so I’m never pushed to sell one company’s product over another. Before I recommend anything, you’ll get my compensation in writing and a side-by-side comparison of at least two other options. If a fiduciary RIA is what you need for your stock portfolio, I’ll tell you so and refer you to one I trust.
Will I be pressured to buy something?
No. The first conversation is a clarity call. We don't even discuss products. My business is built on referrals, and referrals never come from pressure. They come from getting it right.
What’s the catch with a Fixed Indexed Annuity?
There’s always a tradeoff, and I’ll never pretend there isn’t. Here’s the deal: in exchange for never losing a dollar of principal to the market, you give up some of the upside in the best years, usually through a cap, a participation rate, or a spread. If the S&P returns 25%, you might get 8 to 10%. If it returns -30%, you get 0%, which beats -30% every single time. An FIA isn’t built to beat the market. It’s built to give you a paycheck you can’t outlive and a night’s sleep you can’t put a price on. When we sit down, I’ll show you the real math: the caps, the worst case, the best case. Then you decide if that tradeoff is right for you.
How are you paid?
Commissions are paid by the insurance carrier when you place a policy, not taken out of your principal. You get the full benefit of every dollar you put in, and I'll disclose the exact compensation on every product before you sign anything.
Do I have to be in Michigan?
Most of my clients are in Michigan, but I'm able to work in additional states. If you're considering a move in retirement, let's talk about how that affects your plan.
I already have an advisor. Should we still talk?
Absolutely. A second opinion costs you nothing. I often work alongside existing CPAs and attorneys. If your current plan is rock-solid, I'll tell you so.
What if I'm not ready to make a decision?
Most people aren't on the first call. That's normal. Take the materials, sleep on it, talk to your spouse, your CPA, your attorney. There's no expiration date on a good plan.
What happens to my money if you retire or move on?
Your contracts are with the insurance carrier, not with me personally, so they stay in force no matter what. And I keep a succession plan in place so my clients always have a trusted human to call.
This Probably Sounds Familiar

Real situations. Real plans. Real Michigan retirees.

If any of these sound like your life right now, you’re exactly who Greg built this practice for.

In their own words
“I just rolled over $400K from my 401(k) and I have no idea what to do.”
The worryOne wrong move could cost you years of work, and the clock is ticking on your tax windows.
Greg’s moveWe give every dollar a job (income, growth, emergency, legacy) and put a written plan in your hands the first week. Most clients leave that first meeting with a clearer picture than they’ve ever had.
In their own words
“My spouse passed and I’m scared of running out.”
The worryThe income just got cut in half. The bills didn’t.
Greg’s moveWe start with a 30-minute conversation. No products, no paperwork. Then we lock down guaranteed income first, simplify what’s left, and put it all in writing your kids can help you run.
In their own words
“I’m 64. The market swings every week. When do I get out?”
The worryGet out too early and you miss years of growth. Too late and one bad month wipes out a decade.
Greg’s moveYou don’t have to be all in or all out. We build a “bucket” plan (short-term safety, mid-term income, long-term growth) so a single bad market never decides your retirement date.
In their own words
“My CPA says I’ll get crushed by RMDs at 73.”
The worryYour IRA is set to launch you into a higher tax bracket the moment Social Security and Medicare premiums kick in.
Greg’s moveWe run a Roth conversion ladder, a QLAC strategy, or a beneficiary restructure (usually some combination of all three) and coordinate it directly with your CPA. The goal is simple: pay the IRS the legal minimum, not a dollar more.
